A Jim ‘N Nick’s BBQ employee who claimed she was robbed at gunpoint outside the Greystone restaurant last month has been arrested and charged with theft.

Amanda Coleen Durant, 27, of Mount Olive told Hoover Police a gunman robbed Jim ‘N Nick’s at 2831 Greystone Commercial Blvd. on Jan. 29. According to a police report, the gunman made off with $2,850.

Hoover Capt. Jim Coker said Wednesday that an investigation revealed the incident was a staged robbery. Durant turned herself in to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department on Feb. 10, and was charged with first-degree theft. She was jailed and later released on $10,000 bond. Durant is no longer employed at Jim ‘N Nick’s, police said.

Coker said an additional arrest is expected in the case.
