Andy and Jon Erwin continue to set their production company and the Birmingham area up for the spotlight.

The Gospel Music Association recently released its nominees for the 40th Annual Dove Awards, which include Erwin Brothers Motion Pictures based in Calera.

“We are really, really excited and humbled by the nominations,” said Andy Erwin. “All of the music groups we worked with were great and really deserve a win.”

The Dove Awards are the Grammys of the Christian Music market.

The Erwins were announced as finalists in two categories: best short music video and best long music video of the year.

To top it off, Andy Erwin said they never expected to receive as many nominations as they did. The brothers were named as three of the five nominees for best short form music video. Those entries include the video for Remedy Drive’s “Daylight,” Group 1 Crew’s “Movin’” and Casting Crowns’ “Slow Fade.” Their video work on Casting Crowns’ “The Altar and the Door Live” was nominated for best long form music video. Their nominated video “Slow Fade” by Casting Crowns is featured in the movie “Fireproof.”

“We’re excited to bring more attention home as well,” Erwin said. “Every one of the videos nominated were shot right here in Birmingham.”

Erwin said Remedy Drive’s video was shot at Sloss Furnace, scenes in Casting Crowns’ videos take place around downtown Birmingham and Group 1 Crew’s images shot their video off Morris Avenue.

The four nominations are the first Dove Nominations for the Erwins. They were recently featured in the San Antonio Film Festival for their Bible films featuring actor Dean Jones.

The Dove Awards will be broadcast on the Gospel Music Channel April 23 at 7 p.m.
