Gov. Bob Riley will be in Pelham tonight to discuss his opposition to pending legislation that would expand gambling in Alabama.

The meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Pelham Civic Complex Ballroom.

A press release from the governor’s office says, “Riley is opposed to the expansion of gambling and has recently taken steps to ensure that Alabama’s laws against gambling are uniformly enforced.”

The release continues, “Still, gambling interests and their allies in the State Senate are once again attempting to slip past legislation that would unravel Alabama law and expand illegal gambling along with the crime, misery and corruption that come with it.”
