Pelham senior guard Jordin Mauk signed a basketball scholarship with Belhaven College in Jackson, Miss., on Feb. 27.

Mauk led the Panthers in 3-point shooting during the regular season, hitting 34 percent of her shots from beyond the arc, and she hit 45 percent from the field. She was voted permanent team captain by her

teammates and was selected to the Hoover all tournament team as a senior, averaging nine points per game, shooting 70 percent from the field and 33 percent from 3-point range over the three game stretch.

In 2007-08, Mauk was an All-Shelby county honorable mention as a junior. She also participates as a coach, coaching her younger sister’s Pelham Lady Pride team over the last three years.

Mauk has played basketball for 10 years, including four years in the Pelham/Helena recreational league, eight years of AAU/YBOA ball and six years of school ball. She was a member of five AAU/YBOA State championship teams and

a member of the only Riverchase middle school team to ever go undefeated at 21-0, and was an All-Metro selection that season.

“I would like to thank Belhaven College and particularly Coach Evans for believing in me enough to offer me this scholarship and for seeing something in me that sometimes I don’t even see in myself,” said Mauk.

Belhaven College is a member of the NAIA and Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. The Blazers women’s basketball team finished the 2008-09 season with a 17-14 record.
