Leila Ford Galloway, of Montevallo, died in Montevallo on March 8, 2009, at the age of 99.
She was born in 1909 in Live Oak, Fla. to Joseph Fulton Ford and Adelaide McClennan Ford.
She graduated summa cum laude with a degree in social work from Montevallo College in 1926.
She worked as a social worker after graduation until her marriage to Joseph Frederick Galloway in 1932.
After her marriage, she moved to Columbia, South America, where she lived much of her adult life.
While living abroad, she periodically came back to visit Alabama, including five years spent living in Huntsville, prior to moving to Montevallo in 1970.
In Montevallo, she was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, and made many friendships among its members.
She also was a long –time participant in the Montevallo Garden Club. She was a member of the American Association of University Women and was active at the University of Montevallo, both taking classes and as a member of Alumni Affairs.
She had friends in many countries and would make new ones in her many travels.
She is preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph Ford (Birmingham) and Herbert Ford (Sylacauga); sisters, Jean Ford Reagan (Hartford) and Mary Ford Kennerly (Montevallo); son, John Alexander Galloway II (Litchfield, Conn.).
She is survived by six grandchildren, Laura Galloway (Charlottesville, Va.), Ellen Galloway (Lawrence, Kan.), Julia Galloway (Missoula, Mont.), Kyle Galloway (Louisville, Ky.), Alexandra Galloway (Canton, Conn.) and Christopher Ripley (Alston, Mass.).
She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren. Among her many nieces and nephews, Mary Jean Kennerly Dennis, Margaret Kennerly and Julia Kennerly Mendonca were important parts of her daily life.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 13, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Montevallo Presbyterian Church.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the service.
Burial followed in the Montevallo City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Knowlwood Assisted Living for all their kindness.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like request that memorials be made to Montevallo Presbyterian Church, 510 Shelby St., Montevallo, AL 35115.

Bobbie L. Glass
Calera

Funeral service for Bobbie Glass, age 74, of Calera, was at 11 a.m., Friday, March 13, 2009, at 16th Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Nick Wells officiating. Burial followed in Salem Cemetery.
Visitation was Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the church.
Mrs. Glass, who passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at a local hospital, was born Sept. 4, 1934.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Glen Glass; daughter, Tommie Lou Higgins; and sisters, Earline B. Kimbrell and Irogene Brasher.
She is survived by her son, Gary (Stephanie) Glass; grandchildren, Bridgette (Nathan) Sanders, Tanner and Taylor Glass; great-grandchildren, Mason and Hannah Sanders; son-in-law, Bruce Higgins; and a host of other family and friends.
