Dudchock blasts two to lift Eagles

Davis Dudchock hit his second and third home runs of the Nike Gulf Coast Classic Wednesday to drive in six runs and lead Oak Mountain to a 15-3 victory over Southmoore High of Oklahoma. Dudchock was 3-for-4 in the game with seven RBIs.

Oak Mountain (9-7) took a 2-0 lead in its pool with the win, as the Eagles collected 16 hits in the win. Cary Baxter had three triples and drove in two runs for Oak Mountain, while David Dahl was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored.

Mason Hammond picked up the win, allowing three runs off seven hits in five innings.

-MCADORY 6, THOMPSON 3: Zach Smith led Thompson with two RBIs and Jordan Thomas added two hits, as Thompson lost its first game in the tournament to McAdory (11-6).

-PLEASANT GROVE 5, THOMPSON 1: Trent Lucas collected two hits, but that was it for Thompson, who moved to 1-2 in the Nike Showcase Classic. The Warriors had only five hits and scored their run unearned.

-BRIARWOOD 12, BUCKHORN 10: David Woods picked up his fourth win of the season, but allowed 10 hits and four runs in the process. Briarwood bounced back from a 3-0 deficit in the top of the first inning to score 10 runs through four. The Lions’ offense distanced itself from Buckhorn with the help of three hits and four RBIs from Jonathan Logan, three hits and an RBI from Brett Conner, three hits and three runs scored from Austin Lankford and two hits and an RBI from Paul McKelvey.

Nate Holmes, who relieved Woods with one out in the fifth, struggled in the top of the seventh, allowing six unearned runs off two hits and four walks. Lankford replaced Holmes with out to get in the seventh, allowing one hit by no runs. He struck out his needed out for the save.

Briarwood (11-2) will play Huntsville at 10 a.m. Thursday, followed by Brewbaker Tech at 12:30 p.m.
