Fifty-four employees at the Bruno’s in Alabaster have been notified the store may be closing May 17 if a buyer cannot be found.

The Alabaster store is one of 38 in the state that are currently listed on the Alabama Office of Workforce Development Web site’s list of stores to close.

The site lists 12 Bruno’s Supermarkets, 24 Food World’s, including the Pelham location, and two Food Max stores.

Bruno’s operates 60 stores in Alabama and seven in Florida.

The company filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy in February, while also announcing the closure of 10 stores.
