Clean Out Your Closet For Christ, a Calera-based used shoe drive to benefit local churches and charities, has expanded its services to Montevallo.

Director Gerome Singleterry said New Everdale Baptist Church is the drive’s newest drop-off location. Other churches participating in the Montevallo drive are: Ebenezer Baptist Church, New Vision Christian Church, Faith Baptist Church, New Antioch Church, Holly Grove Baptist Church, Pleasant Hill Church, Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Freewill Baptist Church and Shiloh Baptist Church.

Singleterry said used shoes are recycled for 50 cents per pound. The money collected is then divided among participating churches and charities.
