Shelby County will remain under a tornado watch until 7 p.m.
Strong thunderstorms are expected to develop across the area this afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.
The worst weather will be in North Alabama, but Shelby County is still at risk for large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.
The weather will subside around 7 p.m., after a cold front moves through.
Easter weekend will be sunny, with highs around 70 degrees and lows in the mid-40s.
