Soccer leads the county as the sport with the most number of players selected to the Alabama All-Star Sports Week teams for the second year.

In girls’ soccer, Spain Park goalkeeper Lauren Arnold, who has committed to Clemson University, will lead the North team along with Spain Park midfielder Cavanagh Baker. Thompson midfielder Emile Morrow and Indian Springs defender Sarah Hook will also be on the North team.

For the boys, Chelsea keeper Alex Levinson will look to get the start for the North, with help from Briarwood defender William David Pugh and Oak Mountain defender David Jackson. Pelham forward/midfielder Gifford Usher and Michael Thrasher of Oak Mountain were also selected.

Two of Pelham’s top baseball players, Michael Bishop and Trae Santos have been selected to the North All-Star team.

Bishop, expected to be next year’s starting centerfielder for the Panthers, is one of three outfielders selected, while Santos is one of seven pitchers named to the team, which will be coached in part by Pelham head coach Jeff Mauldin.

Also named to the North baseball team is Spain Park first baseman Aaron Haag and former Shelby Academy pitcher Cody Jones, who is now at Mountain Brook.

In softball, Julie Moss of Oak Mountain is the only county player. She will play for the South.

The All-Star Sports Week will be July 13-17 in Huntsville with baseball playing a doubleheader July 13 beginning at 4 p.m. at Joe Davis Stadium, soccer playing a doubleheader July 14 at John Hunt Park beginning with the girls at 5 p.m. and softball playing on July 15 at 6 p.m. at the Metro Kiwanis Sportsplex.

All selections for spring sports are rising seniors.
