Alabaster Spirit blasts Hurricanes

After a schedule mistake Monday, and with little time to spare, the Alabaster 8-under Spirit soccer team managed to pull together enough players to play and remain undefeated.
A little over an hour before the game, the team realized that there was a game, not at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, but on Monday. A few quick phone calls were made to pull together five players and an assistant coach, as Spirit beat the Atomic Hurricanes, 10-2.
Led by assistant coach Mike Yeskivicz and team captain Billy Otis, the team dominated. Ethan Landavazo was a shooting star on the field, appearing wherever he was needed to clear the ball. Every step Seth Gatlin took on the field was a testament to his fire and determination to win. He ran hard, kicked hard and played hard. Cameron Childs played remarkably well, executing plays consistently and fighting hard for the ball. Gabrielle Oliver didn’t let the team down. She fought for the ball persistently and made several great blocks on goal. Otis came through as usual. His strong kick and control scored several goals for the team.
