Obama health care plan can save money

It seems that there is more interest in protecting the healthcare reimbursement system than providing for people in need of affordable healthcare.

I minister to numerous people who are employed full-time at good American companies, but have no health insurance because the cost would financially ruin the company or pre-existing medical conditions prevent access to health insurance.

I think that the Christian people of the richest company in the history of the world should be trying to change this instead of trying to keep the status quo.

Two recent studies show that folks who choose Obama’s public health insurance option would receive high-quality insurance and would save up to 30 percent off of private plans.

If Americans have a choice, the for-profit insurance companies will be forced to make their plans a better value, so those who keep their private coverage will save as well. This 30 percent savings is critical to the debate over a public health insurance option, and the Shelby County Reporter should include it in health care reporting.
