The AISA Class 1A baseball championship between Cornerstone Christian School and Abbeville Christian Academy was washed out Thursday morning, as heavy rain fell Paterson Field in Montgomery. The game is now scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Montgomery County at 9:40 a.m. that said up to three inches or rain was expected over the next two to three hours. While the rain lessened at Paterson Field around 11 a.m., it picked back up moments later, leading to the decision to delay the game another day. The potential for rain in Montgomery ranges from 60 to 100 percent until after dark Thursday, according to the NWS.
Abbeville Christian beat Cornerstone 14-4 in game one of the best-of-three series Tuesday, but CCS bounced back with a 5-3 win Wednesday morning to force a third game. After a two and a half hour rain delay, game three was moved to Thursday at 10 a.m.
