George Henry, 32, has been named the new Alabaster city administrator, and he will begin his duties Monday, May 11.
Henry will assist Mayor David Frings in day-to-day operations, while also assisting in supervising department heads, coordinating various projects, working with the city’s Web site, accounting software and budget preparation.
“George is a good man, honest and has high integrity,” Frings said. “He’s going to be an extra set of eyes, ears and feet on the ground.”
Henry fills a position that has been vacant since Tony Rivera left the job three years ago.
The position was budgeted in for the 2009 budget.
Henry has a B.S. in business administration and a M.B.A. from Samford University.
Henry worked with his own brokerage agency prior to this new position.
“Having grown up in Pelham and lived in Alabaster for 10 years, I see the positive growth and positive direction the city is moving in,” Henry said. “What I’m hoping to bring is a business mindset to the government. We want to use our tax dollars to the best ability and in the most sensible way.”
Henry is married to wife Jessica. The couple has two children: William, 3, and Naomi, 1 month.
