The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will hold its annual Great Strides Walk on May 16 at Hoover’s Veterans Park.

The walk is the foundation’s national event, intended to raise awareness and funds. Check-in is at 9 a.m., the run starts at 9:45 a.m. and the walk starts at 10 a.m.

Children’s Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Clinic staff will be available to speak with families affected by cystic fibrosis.

There will be a craft session for children, and Jim N Nick’s barbecue will be available to eat.

The event is sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, AT&T and the Wachovia Foundation.
