Five-ton monster trucks often use their enormous tires to crush cars, school buses and even small airplanes, but one Birmingham author uses them to teach children about God.

Kasey M. Carter launched her Christian children’s book series on April 7 with the release of “Faithful Crushers: Loving Others.”

“I constantly strive to find different and fun ways to incorporate God into my sons’ lives,” Carter said. “It is both a duty and privilege to help witness to these awesome gifts from God.”

The books follow the adventures of two monster trucks, Trip the Trickster and Daisy the Destroyer, who energize themselves by reading Bible verses, which Carter calls God’s “fuel.” Unless they read their daily verse, they remain exhausted, with tires wobbling and tailgates dragging.

Carter was inspired to create the series while playing with her two sons and their monster trucks one day.

“Their faces were filled with both intense competition and delight,” Carter said. “I quickly realized that I wanted to capture and create this same excitement over monster trucks in children’s books for God.”

The first book, “Loving Others,” teaches children about friendship and being there to support each other using the verse 1 John 4:7.

According to Carter’s contract, the series will include at least three more books, each explaining a different Bible verse.

Carter has a book signing scheduled for Saturday, June 6 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Little Professor Book Center in Homewood.

The first book, published by Tate Publishing & Enterprises, is available at most bookstores and online from Amazon, Target and Barnes & Noble. It will be featured in the third quarter edition of Christian MotorSports Illustrated.
