Members of Chelsea Community Church, formerly K-Springs Church of God, are proud of their 107-year history and are holding a day to show off their heritage.

The K-Springs Heritage Day will be held June 14 at the church. Festivities will begin at 10:30 a.m. All current or former members or visitors are invited to attend.

Heritage Day committee head Mickey Griffin said the event is intended to teach new members about the rich history behind the church.

“Basically, the main reason we’re having it is we want to bring back our people that haven’t been here in a long time and let them see what’s going on, what’s taken place here and be able to share the history that has been going on now for 107 years,” Griffin said.

On Heritage Day, current and former members of the congregation will perform praise music during the morning service. Church member Shelba Nivens will give a 10-minute presentation on the church’s history. Later, during lunch, Nivens will talk more about the church’s history while old church photo albums and memorabilia will be available for viewing.

Griffin said the church is expecting to see 250-300 people during the event.

“We have so many new members who don’t know anything about the heritage of the church here, and we want them to see and understand exactly what has gone into keeping the church afloat through the years,” she said.
