“Chopper” arrested for probation violation

David “Chopper” Strevel, past president of the Alabaster Youth League, has been arrested and charged with three counts of probation violation.

Strevel was arrested three times between November 2007-April 2008 for scamming residents out of more than $300,000.

Strevel was convicted of the crimes after pleading guilty in May 2008.

Strevel was sentenced to 10 years, with the first 15 months to be served at the Shelby County Corrections Work Release Center, where he was ordered to maintain a full-time job.
