Former Shelby Academy athletic director and football head coach Shannon Jones has been hired as head baseball coach and head track coach at Bessemer Academy. He will also coach wide receivers.

Jones coached two seasons at Shelby Academy before being told in the spring that he will not be brought back to Shelby Academy next season.

He formerly served as head baseball coach at Cornerstone Christian School.
