The city of Pelham celebrated its 45th birthday Friday with a reception and flag presentation at city hall.

Rep. Spencer Bachus’ field representative Caleb Goodwyn presented the city with a U.S. flag that flew over the Capitol.

“We are very proud and thankful (Bachus) thought of us in this way,” said City Council Place 5 representative Karyl Rice. “This is a very special time for Pelham.”

To celebrate the city’s history, a book of old pictures chronicling the city’s past was available for visitors to view.

The city also had a birthday cake and refreshments for visitors.
