Proposed quarry a bad deal for Vincent

Dear Editor,

It is interesting to watch the battle in Vincent over the proposed limestone quarry. Is the quarry good for the area?

The anti-quarry people say the dust, noise, pollution, and property devaluation makes it a bad deal. The quarry people say their quarry is clean with no dust and less noise than a rooster crowing. They say the quarry will increase the property values and create jobs.

White Rock said they would have 122 employees. Of these, six employees would be management, and 80 percent or 92 employees will be minorities. Is this a way to say most of the jobs will be laborers?

Whenever I see a quarry, I don’t see an explosion of new homes and businesses. I usually see a blighted area. So why does Vincent want a quarry?
