A second minor has confessed to being part of a string of doggy door burglaries in Helena two weeks ago.

Helena Police Detective Chris Rollan said the minor, 13, was out of town after the crimes were committed. After the boy came back into town, his parents took him to the police station, where he confessed.

He was involved with two burglaries in the Shelena Estates and Fieldstone subdivisions on July 19, along with a 15-year-old who has already confessed to two other burglaries in the Fieldstone subdivision on July 15.

On July 19, the two juveniles took cash and an MP3 player from the two houses.

Rollan said the two were friends who were caught because they got rid of the cash quickly.

“They bought some video games,” he said. “That’s pretty much how they got caught.”

A clerk at Zone 1 Video Games identified the two minors, saying they had a lot of money and were acting suspiciously.

The cases have been transferred to the Shelby County Juvenile Facility.
