Briarwood Christian School defeated Muscle Shoals and Daphne on the first day of the Serve-Off Tournament.

Julia Hoke led the Lions with eight kills as Briarwood defeated Muscle Shoals 25-8, 25-15 in the first match Friday. Elizabeth Reiser added five kills and Susan McKinney had 10 assists and four aces in the win.

Kate Carter finished with eight kills as Briarwood defeated Daphne 25-18, 23-25, 15-3 in the second match. Hoke added six kills, four blocks and two aces.

Oak Mountain lost its first two pool play matches in the Juanita Boddie tournament. Sam Skinner had nine kills as the Eagles fell to Mountain Brook 25-21, 25-19 in the opener. Lauren Dasher added seven kills and Chelsea Payne had 19 assists.

Skinner had eight kills and Payne had eight assists as Oak Mountain fell to Grissom 25-13, 25-13 in the second match.
