When Misty Webster took a drive down Montevallo’s picturesque Main Street, she knew immediately it was the perfect place for the restaurant her husband always wanted to open.

“It’s kind of funny. I’ve always wanted to be in the restaurant biz,” said Main Street Tavern owner and chef Jeff Webster. “My wife was driving around one day and saw Main Street, and it’s so beautiful. Montevallo said, ‘Hey, we need somebody out there,’ and we love the community.”

Main Street is located in the old Redbones Grill location. Jeff said it took the Websters three months to have the historic building repainted and cleaned up, but they kept the retro look and played up the centerpiece, a gorgeous wood bar built in 1900.

Main Street offers comfort food, such as burgers, steak, pasta and side dishes, at comfort prices – nothing on the menu’s more expensive than $13.95.

Jeff, who personally oversees every meal, said any adventurous eater would do well to try the fried macaroni and cheese as well as the Cincinnati chili, a chili with no beans served over penne pasta, or the jerk chicken pasta.

“Everything we make is homemade. Everything is made from scratch,” Jeff said.

Mary Lou Williams, president of the Montevallo Chamber of Commerce, said Main Street Tavern would be a good fit for the downtown atmosphere.

“It’s created some excitement in this part of Main Street. It’s a beautiful historic building, and it’s exciting that a wonderful young couple wanted to bring this to our town,” she said. “I feel like we really have a core group of attractions to offer.”
