Alabaster Police this morning arrested a man they say is responsible for the Aug. 27 armed robbery at First Commercial Bank here.

Alabaster detectives arrested Anthony Williams, 44, of Alabaster, in the early hours this morning at his home.

“A search warrant was executed at his residence at the time of the arrest,” said Deputy Chief Curtis Rigney in a press release. “A large amount of money connected to the robbery and the handgun believed to have been used in the robbery was located at his residence.”

Williams has been charged with first-degree robbery and faces a $250,000 bond. He is currently being held at the Alabaster Police Department and will be transferred to the Shelby County Jail later today.

Rigney said the arrest is the result of good investigative work cooperation with First Commercial Bank Security, Regions Bank Security and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department.
