Eubanks to speak at Montevallo
Ralph Eubanks, the author of “The House at the End of the Road: The Story of Three Generations of an Interracial Family in the American South,” will be on hand at the university Sept. 29 at 6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
Eubanks’ book discusses how a young white man named James Morgan Richardson married a light-skinned black woman named Edna Howell in 1914.
Over their more than 20 years of marriage, they formed a strong family and built a house at the end of a winding sandy road in South Alabama, a place where they found safety from the hostile world around them.
