Alabaster soon to hire new Parks and Recreation director
City officials soon may move a step closer to hiring a full-time Alabaster Parks and Recreation director, Mayor David Frings said Wednesday.
Alabaster has been without a full-time recreation director since former director Larry Vann resigned from the position June 2.
Since Vann’s resignation, Athletic Manager Ricky Nance has served as the interim Parks and Recreation director.
The city within the “next few weeks” will advertise the opening, collect resumes and conduct business-style job interviews before hiring the new director, Frings explained.
“Ricky is still in the position,” Frings wrote in an e-mail. “The position will be formally posted within the next few weeks, and a director chosen after interviews.”
Once hired, the Parks and Recreation director will be in charge of maintaining city parks, coordinating city sporting events and overseeing many other day-to-day operations within the department.
