Hope defeats North River

The Hope Christian Eagles improved to 3-2 with a 36-12 victory in the pouring down rain over North River Christian of Tuscaloosa.

Quarterback Luke Mahan started for the Eagles, with Hope utilizing Zac Hughes from the H-back position to the tune of 118 yards and two touchdowns, including runs of 55 and 50 yards.

Mahan also had two runs for touchdowns, as the Eagles went to the run game due to the sloppy weather conditions.

“It was soaking wet, raining going sideways,” Hope head coach Mark Rettig said. “We really had a good time tonight.”

Defensively for the Eagles, Jacob Medders had 13 tackles two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery, while Caleb Rettig also had 13 tackles and a fumble recovery.

Hughes finished with 10 tackles.

The Eagles will take a week off before traveling to Grace Baptist of Ga. on Oct. 2.
