Brock Boyd had two interceptions as the Hope Christian School Eagles rallied from a fourth-quarter deficit to take the win Friday over Tabernacle Christian, 52-36.

Behind 36-30 entering the fourth, Boyd picked off two passes and the Eagles (4-2) outscored Tabernacle 22-0 to seal the victory.

“It changed the pulse of the game,” Hope head coach Mark Rettig said of Boyd’s two interceptions. “It really turned the game for us.”

The Eagles fell behind 16-8 in the first, and both teams added a score in the second to go into the locker room with Tabernacle ahead, 22-14.

Each team added a pair of scores in the third quarter before the Eagles pulled away in the final quarter.

Rettig credited his line and defense for the come-from-behind victory.

“Our line stepped it up a notch,” Rettig said. “We’re just proud of them.”

Jacob Medders led the Eagles with 15 tackles, while Andrew Whitson had nine.

Caleb Rettig and Karry Jones had eight tackles apiece, including a forced fumble by Rettig.

The Eagles return to action Friday as they travel to Grace Baptist (Ga.)
