Mutual Savings Credit Union recently named Douglas Key the institution’s new CEO.

Key has worked with credit unions in various roles for more than 35 years.

“It’s an honor for me to have the opportunity to contribute to the success of Mutual Savings Credit Union,” Key said in a press release. “I am excited about creating a dynamic workplace where the strategic vision of serving members is greatly expanded. I look forward to this new chapter in my career. It’s going to be challenging but very rewarding.”

He is the founding owner in the law firm of Key, Greer, Frawley, Key and Harrison, with offices in Pelham and Columbiana. He will transition out of the law practice as he takes on his responsibilities for Mutual Savings Credit Union.

T. Glenn Latham, the administrator for the Alabama Credit Union Administration, said Key’s experience in the industry would make him a good fit for the position.

“Douglas, along with the help of seasoned staff, will work to lead the credit union back to a healthy and growing state,” Latham said.

The Shelby County-based Mutual Savings Credit Union was placed into conservatorship July 31 of this year. The credit union has branches in Calera and Pelham.
