Former HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy is back in the Shelby County Jail, as he appeared in a Birmingham courtroom Thursday to answer questions about his assets.
Scrushy was previously brought to the Shelby County Jail in June 2008 and May 2009 prior to testifying in a civil trial, in which he was found liable for nearly $2.8 billion in damages.
Prior to that, Scrushy was convicted on an unrelated corruption charge, and has been held in a Texas prison.
Most of Scrushy’s property has been seized to pay the damages in the civil trial, and he was in court Thursday to answer questions regarding the whereabouts of his fortune.
