Briarwood falls on the road at Florence

Briarwood Christian School fell 23-6 on the road Friday at Florence in a non-region contest.

The Lions’ only touchdown came with 8:59 remaining in the third quarter when quarterback Paul Barber connected with receiver Cooper Harrington for a 17-yard touchdown.

Alex Hall led Briarwood (6-3) with 81 rushing yards on nine carries. Sam Whitaker added 58 yards on seven carries.

Barber threw three interceptions, including two in the fourth quarter, which limited the Lions’ hope of a comeback in the fourth quarter. Barber completed 18-of-34 passes for 110 yards.

The Lions finished with 324 yards in total offense, including 214 rushing yards.

Briarwood closes out the regular season Oct. 29 on the road at Anniston.
