Alabaster residents will get a chance to explore and learn more about their city Nov. 14, as city leaders and staff will host Alabaster’s first Fall Walk.

During the walk, guides will lead residents and visitors on a walking tour of the new south tower at the Shelby Baptist Medical Center off U.S. 31, and will share information about the city at Buck Creek Park.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. at the hospital, and tours of the new tower will be held until 10 a.m.

From 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Buck Creek Park, city firefighters will offer blood pressure checks and will check proper installation of child car seats, the Alabaster Police Department will be fingerprinting children and the Red Cross and the Lemak Group will be sponsoring a health fair.

The Alabaster Parks and Recreation Department will also host a punt, pass and kicking competition, and LifeSouth will host a blood drive. The event will also feature barbecue, music from 2Blu and the Lucky Stiffs and inflatable games near the park’s pavilion.

Visitors can also receive maps of the Buck Creek Trail, and city personnel will be giving hayrides on the trail for those who can not walk the trail.

The event will be free and open to the public.
