Funeral service for John E. Jones, 77, of Columbiana, will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Columbiana United Methodist Church. Dr. Don Wright and Rev. Pete Grice officiating.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 30, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at Columbiana United Methodist Church.
Mr. Jones, who passed away Friday, November 27, 2009, was born in Tuscaloosa County November 27, 1932.
Mr. Jones retired from Auburn University as a County Extension Agent. He was a member of Columbiana United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Kiwanis Club, Board Member Shelby County Farmers Federation and the Shelby County Cattleman’s Association.
He was Shelby County Fair Manager for many years and was an active supporter of the Shelby County High School Athletic Booster Club.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Jones of Columbiana; sons, Jeff Jones (Sherry), Kenneth Jones (Angela) and Kevin Jones (Heather); brother, Berry Jones (Mary); sisters, Voncile Monjure and Monta Ingram (George); grandchildren, Cason, Brannon, Tucker, Eli, Kylie, Tyler and Livi; and many other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Building Fund or the Skillet Bird Christmas Fund at the Columbiana United Methodist Church.
