Bobbie Jo Higgins was born May 7, 1936.
She married John H. Higgins and together they had four children; Doris J. Horton (Don) of Columbiana, William Henry Higgins (Sharon) of Columbiana, JoAnn Bailey (Thom) of Alabaster and Wesley Andrew Higgins (Vita) of Birmingham.
She was blessed with nine grandchildren, John Garrett (Lana), Tracy Billingsley (Tim), Angela Horton (Joe), Henry Higgins, Jr. (Christie), Shellie Higgins, Shannon, Jarod, Susannah Higgins and Christopher Horton.
Her family grew larger with eight great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Johnathon, Cristian, Megan, Kaylyn, Clint, Austin, Lace and Robby and Stella Grace and a great great grandchild, Carlee.
She had two sisters, Faye Alexander of Lineville, Peggy Grimes (Stanley) of Columbiana and a brother and sister-in-law; Onnie and Sudie Higgins that she looked upon as a brother and sister.
Other in-laws that lovingly called and kept in touch – Thank you.
Mother loved her family dearly and would proudly say how blessed she was that all her children and most of her grandchildren came home for Christmas and most other holidays.
To friends, family and church family members that called, visited, sent cards or said a special prayer on her behalf, Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
To Wanda for giving so much of your time to make her feel “pretty”, Thank you. To Peggy who has become part of our family, we love you.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John H. Higgins, her parents, Marshall and Vicie Smith and her brother, Ray Smith. What a homecoming that must have been to see her loved ones.
Funeral service for Bobbie Jo Higgins, 73, of Columbiana, will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at Bolton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Gardens.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
