Shelby County boys improve to 7-1 with win over Vincent

Freshman forward Tyler Madison led Shelby County (7-1) with 33 points and 17 rebounds as the Wildcats picked up an 84-66 win over Vincent in high school basketball action Dec. 15.

Jordan Simon added 28 points. Tae Lewis and Ty Lollar finished with 10 points each. Keyon Wallace led Vincent (7-4) with 19 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks. Ben McKinney added 15 points and seven rebounds. Brothers Anterio and Juwan Rogers chipped in 10 points and six boards each.

Calera 86, Montevallo 56

Deondre Haynes led the Eagles (5-6) with 30 points. Blayne Sumrall added 16 points. Rashad Jones led Montevallo with 28 points. Kevin Callender chipped in 10 points.

Oak Mountain 40, Thompson 37

Cary Baxter led the Eagles (8-2, 3-0 in Class 6A, Area 10) with 11 points and six rebounds. Josh Neville led the Warriors (4-9, 0-4 in Class 6A, Area 10) with 11 points. Demarcus Threatt added 10 points.

Evangel Christian 66, Evangel Family 58

J.R. Coronado led the Lightning (4-2, 3-1 in ACSC) with 22 points in the win Dec. 14. Mauricio Collante added 19 points and Hunter Burridge chipped in 15 points.

Chilton Christian 60, Hope Christian 51

Adam Gurley led the Eagles (4-4, 4-4 in ACSC) with 24 points in the loss Dec. 14. Terrance Moore added 19 points.

Shades Mountain Christian 61, Montevallo 48

Rashad Jones led the Bulldogs with 14 points in the loss Dec. 14. Brandon Lilly added 10 points.

GIRLS

Thompson 36, Oak Mountain 32 (OT)

Ashley Wilson led the Warriors (4-10) with 15 points in the overtime win. Lay Watts led the Eagles (10-3) with 11 points.

Montevallo 53, Calera 38

Amber Cardwell led the Bulldogs (8-3) with 27 points and 12 rebounds. Savanna Smith added 12 points. Kendra Holmes led the Eagles with 12 points.

Shelby County 54, Vincent 23

Aulicia Nunn led the Wildcats with 12 points. Aysia Perkins added 10 points and 11 rebounds. Whitley Green finished with six points and 10 rebounds. Pam Mann had a team-high 13 rebounds.

Evangel Christian 58, Evangel Family 39

Taylor Grammer led the Lightning (6-0, 5-0 in ACSC) with 14 points in the win Dec. 14. Rainey Ketcham and Mary Kathryn Sawyer added 11 points each.

Pleasant Grove 44, Shelby County 26

Aulicia Nunn led the Wildcats with 14 points in the loss Dec. 14. Whitney Green and Alysia Perkins chipped in 10 points each.
