A blood donation center in Alabaster is helping to give back to those who help save lives this holiday season.

The LifeSouth Community Blood Center at 1007 First St. N. in Alabaster is hosting a donation drive from Dec. 21-24 and a second drive on New Year’s Eve.

Everyone who gives blood during the two drives will be entered into a drawing for a Phillips 32-inch HDTV.

All blood donations will help to fill blood banks and save lives at local hospitals during the Christmas and New Year holidays, which is especially important this time of year, said LifeSouth District Community Development Coordinator Blaire Middleton.

“It is vital to spread the word about the importance of blood donation, especially during the holidays because blood need never takes a holiday,” Middleton wrote in an e-mail. “Thoug we know some people donate out of the goodness of their hearts, they also like incentives.”

Donors can visit the LifeSouth donation center any time between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. during the drives. For more information, call LifeSouth Alabaster at 663-4050.
