Evelyn Henderson Bice, 83, of Brent went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 21, 2009, at her home. Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Randolph Baptist Church with burial in Randolph Cemetery. Rev. Reuben Compere and Rev. Roger Hamaker officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009 from 5–7 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Centreville.
Evelyn was one of 12 children born to William Jasper Henderson and Mary Sewell Henderson. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Charlton Woods Bice of Brent; two daughters, Eunice Nicolei (Dan) of West Blocton and Sue Stephenson of Brent; nine grandchildren, Mary Milan, David Nicolei, Shannon Estes (Sam), Charlotte Fowler (Scott), Melissa Moore (Adam), Lisa Staley, Elizabeth Nicolei, James Stephenson and Jessica Ginther (Ronnie); 14 great–grandchildren; one great–great–grandchild; sister, Jewel Davenport; sister-in-law, Violet Wright; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Charles O’Neal; son-in-law, James “Pete” Stephenson; parents, William Jasper and Mary Sewell Henderson; seven brothers, J.T. Henderson, Pettice Henderson, William Henderson, Raymond Henderson, Willard Henderson, Grady Henderson and James Henderson; and three sisters, Gracie Smitherman, Myrtle Smitherman and Ida Mae Lawley.
Evelyn will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives were touched by her loving, giving spirit. A very heart felt thanks to Maggie Tucker and Alacare hospice.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren and nephews. Honorary pallbearers include the church family of Bethel Baptist Church.
