Dolly Bierley McCombs, age 93, a native and life-long resident of Shelby County, died Thursday morning, Jan. 28, 2010. She was a loving wife and mother, and a dedicated Christian woman of faith who always put the needs of others before herself.
For many years, Mrs. McCombs taught Preschool Sunday School at Concord Baptist Church in Calera.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie McCombs; and her first husband, Alvis Horton.
Survivors include Mrs. McCombs’ daughter, Judy Hope (Von); four sons, Terry McCombs (Paula), Tommy McCombs, Eugene Horton (Martha), and Jesse Horton (Sherrell); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and other relatives.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at Concord Baptist Church in Calera. Pastor Daryle Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera.
