Berry Middle teacher chosen for DVD
In a departure from the normal procedure, Berry Middle School math teacher Dil Uswatte won her Oscar before she was ever in a movie.
Uswatte was named a Milken National Educator, known as an “Education Oscar,” last October. She was honored yet again when the Milken Family Foundation chose her to be part of a DVD to be shown at the National Milken Award Show in May.
A video crew visited Berry Middle Feb. 15-16 to film Uswatte teaching her class. The crew interviewed Uswatte, several Hoover School System officials and some of Uswatte’s students.
Uswatte is one of only two Milken educators nationwide to be chosen for the video.
