Dear Editor,

I lied and I am sorry.

In a radio interview a few months ago, I was asked how long I have lived in Vincent.

I lied. I said I have lived here for 20 years.

The truth is that I have lived here for only 5 years.

I have never lied in all my 67 years, but I lied then.

I wish I had never said it and I wish I could take it back, but I can’t.

I have embarrassed my family, my friends, my neighbors, and my associates, and I am truly sorry.

I can think of a dozen reasons for my actions, but none of them will justify my lie.

I have also accused Gerald and Robbie Green of being “Shelbycitizen,” one of the posters on the Shelby County Reporter comments section. I was wrong.

To all whom I have hurt, please accept my deepest and most sincere apology.

I am very, very sorry.
