Shelby County has been named the fourth-most “conservative-friendly” county in the country, according to The Daily Caller, a 24-hour news site headed by conservative commentator Tucker Carlson.
The site made a list of the top 100 conservative-friendly counties in America, based on such criteria as how counties have voted in the past two presidential elections, median household income, home ownership percentage, married family percentage, civilian veteran percentage, unionization laws, concealed weapons laws, abortion laws, weekly religious attendance and taxes.
“(Shelby) is an affluent, educated county, and the most consistently Republican county in Alabama,” the Daily Caller story read. “Bush won 80 percent of the vote here, making this one of the most conservative wealthy counties in America.”
Ahead of Shelby County were Montgomery County, Texas; Forsyth County, Ga.; and Williamson County, Tenn., which was named the most conservative-friendly county in America.
