Columbiana City Council reduces budget

The Columbiana City council adopted a resolution to reduce the existing 2010 budget by five percent on April 6. The new budget will be $3.6 million and will still allow current projects such as sidewalk and paving projects to remain, said Mayor Allan Lowe.

During the meeting, Councilman Stancil Handley announced that the Cruise In, an antique car show, will be coming back to Columbiana the third Saturday of every month during the summer. The Cruise In will be in the overflow county parking lot and this year will offer food from local venders.

In other business, the council

Passed a resolution to resurface East College Street from Milner Street to Arlington Street and Ferry Road from Jefferson Street to Myrtle Street.

Announced that the Liberty Day committee meeting will be April 7 at 9:30 a.m.
