Identity of man who drowned at Oak Mountain State Park released
A 23-year-old Hispanic man drowned Saturday, April 17 at Oak Mountain State Park as he tried to save a friend who was struggling to swim, said Alabama Marine Police officer Steven MacLeroy.
Alfredo Guzman Ruiz of Hoover drowned at approximately 1:55 p.m.
“By witness accounts, the subject went into the water to help someone else,” MacLeroy said. “He never resurfaced.”
