Thompson boys erase deficit to top Homewood

The Thompson High School boys’ soccer team scored two second-half goals to post a 2-1 comeback win over Homewood in high school soccer action April 21.

The Warriors (14-5-2) and the Patriots finished the first half in a 0-0 tie.

Homewood scored a goal early in the second half to take a 1-0 lead.

Matt Guiser tied the game at 1-1 with his second-half goal. Jared McKinney sealed the win with his goal off an assist from Zac Oglesby with 1:12 remaining in the game.

Thompson goalkeeper Eric Hubbard recorded three saves.

The Warriors will travel to Oak Mountain in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs April 27.

The Thompson girls fell 1-0 to Homewood in their final regular season game.
