Shelby County ousted in region softball tournament

The Shelby County High School softball team ended its season at the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A South Central region tournament May 7 in Troy.

The Wildcats dropped their opener to Moody 7-3 before being knocked out of the tournament following a 5-2 loss to Demopolis.

Courtney Shields led the Wildcats at the plate as she finished 2-for-4 with an RBI in the Wildcats’ loss to Moody. Brianna Buie had a double and drove in a run.

Kaitlyn Paschall took the loss after giving up six earned runs.

Shields went 2-for-4 with a single and a double in Shelby County’s loss to Demopolis.

Buie had a double. Elizabeth Waldrop went 1-for-2with a double. Brittany Morris went 1-for-3 and drove in the only run for the Wildcats. Savannah Griffin went 1-for-2 with a single.

Jecca Carden took the loss after giving up three earned runs.
