We should protect our own children

Dear Editor,
The state of Alabama, Senate and House of Representatives, have passed a bill that protect school children from the negative effects of quarries within two miles of a school in Madison County.
Since there was enough documentation of quarry caused dangers to support the enactment of this bill, I wonder why our elected Shelby County senators, representatives, and school board members have turned their backs on our school children.
Did our elected officials support this bill? Does this mean that they only care about the children in Madison County and are willing to allow our children to suffer the negative quarry effects that the Madison County children must be protected from?
If you have children, you need to ask your senator and house members why they aren’t interested in YOUR children enough to protect them while they were protecting Madison County’s children. Act now before they are re-elected.
