Shelby County students honored for top GPAs

More than 25 Shelby County students recently earned some of the highest grade point averages at the University of Montevallo, the school announced during its annual Honors Day ceremony.

UM officials honored students from Alabaster, Chelsea, Columbiana, Helena, Maylene, Pelham, Montevallo, Sterrett and Wilsonville for completing at least 12 semester hours while earning a 3.8 or better GPA.

Alabaster recipients included Megan Daniel, Megan DeRamus, William Elliott and Rachel Woodham. The school also honored Calera residents Candace Casey, Marshall Davidson, Steven Franks and Ryan Matson.

Chelsea residents Cristin Foster, Lisa White and Leigh Williams were also honored, as were Montevallo residents Crystal Brantley, Chelsea Brasher, Emily Daniel, Victoria Frazier, Vadim Ismakaev, Misty Jones and Tabitha Stott.

Darlene Skinner of Helena; Jonathan Haley of Maylene; and Bobby Sheffield of Columbiana were also honored.

Pelham residents Stephanie Jolley, Lauren Tortorici and Monika Tortorici, Sterrett resident Joan Vinsant and Lauren Billingsley of Wilsonville rounded out the list.
