Regions Bank in Alabaster robbed at gunpoint, two suspects arrested

The Regions Bank on U.S. 31 in Alabaster was robbed at gunpoint at approximately 4:35 p.m. May 21, and police have arrested two suspects in connection with the crime.
Police arrested Nathan Parke Bateman, 26, of Pelham and Robert Andre Morton, 25, of Pelham shortly after the robbery.
Both men have been charged with first-degree robbery and are being held in the Shelby County Jail on $1,000,000 apiece.
Alabaster Police Deputy Chief Curtis Rigney said the two males entered the bank at approximately 4:35 p.m., brandished weapons and demanded money.
The two suspects fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
Alabaster Police, with the assistance of the Pelham Police Department, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI, set up a perimeter shortly after receiving the call.
An Alabaster Police officer spotted a suspicious vehicle shortly after the robbery, pulled the vehicle over and the two occupants fled the vehicle on foot.
Police recovered the money in the vehicle.
