Daniel Pickard, a fifth grader at Riverchase Elementary School, placed third at the State Geographic Bee at Samford University Friday, April 9.

Pickard, son of Lee and Michele Pickard, received a National Geographic Collegiate Atlas of the World and a $50 cash prize.
